IS DR BUBBLES TEA – CHAI SPECIALIST THE NEW CHIP ON THE MOLECULER GASTRONOMY BLOCK?
October 30, 2017
Heyy lovelies… hope you are doing well. Weekend is around the corner and my favorite activity of the weekend is roaming on the bylanes of Bandra and photographing that old structures nestled there with some munchies to munch along, sometimes may be even a shake or a coffee. But now i have discovered a more healthy option over those shakes and caffeine.
I discovered a CHAI SPECIALIST bang opposite Globus Cinema on Hill Road at Bandra Called DR BUBBLES. This is a cosy and neatly done up in white outlet with little kitchen like place where you will find colourful jars lined up and two big containers in which bubbles are stored. I was called up to review the place and i took this opportunity without thinking twice as i was really curious and excited to know what BUBBLES TEA is all about.
People in India are not much aware about this BUBBLE TEA trend which is making its place in the food business lately though there are places in Mumbai like Lemon Leaf, Eat Thai in Bandra itself which served this really popular and healthy tea. But now BUBBLES TEA is carving a niche for itself in India as the outlet when i visited was buzzing with activities and customers who were lined up for their share of a healthy tea. I was lucky enough to get to know about the concept of BUBBLES TEA right from the scratch at their outlet itself.
BUBBLES TEA is actually a refreshing flavoured fruit teas and milk teas served ice cold or piping hot with cherry natural tapioca balls that you suck up through a big fat straw. But tapioca balls is not what makes bubble tea, its actually the drink is shaken in the cocktail shaker to form air bubbles which makes the bubble tea. BUBBLES TEA actually originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s which spread widely to Asian countries through the back doors of the China Towns all over North America and Australia.
Its Mr Adnan Sarkar who took the initiative and presented the concept of Bubbles to Indian audience and received a great response since its inception. Mr Alastair Quadros who is the business developer explained me the whole menu and concept of Bubbles Tea. As it is said in the food business.. ‘KNOW THE OWNER’. So here is the owner Mr Adnan Sarkar for you.
I tried different teas and Waffles from their Menu. BUBBLES TEA can be called as an acquired taste that is why it is mixed and matched with fruit flavoured mixes and jellies to suit the Indian taste buds.
(various types of flavored Bubbles and jellies displayed on the counter to choose the custom flavour)
STRAWBERRY FRUIT TEA WITH LITCHI BUBBLES
This is a strawberry flavoured green tea with litchi bubbles that pop up as soon as they get into the mouth giving that fresh flavours of litchi.
This is basically a tea containing Nutella with chocolate bubbles perfect for people who have a sweet tooth like me.
TARO HOT TEA CAPPUCCINO
This is tea with purple colour containing made from Taro roots. It gets its purple colour because Taro is actually purple in colour. It has a mild earthy flavour as it is made of roots.
CHOCOLATE OVERLOAD WAFFLES
This is a soft centered waffle which is crisp outside topped with dark and white milk chocolate toppings with a thin creamy layer of chocolate.
There are a whole of delicacies which you can give a try from menu. I recommend these following.
SHOOT TIRAMISU WAFFLE
SHOOT COOKIES AND CREAM WAFFLES
MOCHA HOT TEA
I specially loved their idea of serving the tea. It is served in plastic shake glasses with fat straw covered with foil paper lid which doesn’t let the tea spill even if the glass is turned upside down to my surprise. perfect for takeaways even if it is a long distance and our Mumbai Local Trains is involved.
So this can be called as the lovely and tasty version of green tea of having the basic green tea. BUBBLES TEA can be a healthy option for such people who give importance to taste buds more than their health.
